Product Description
The drill collar is located at the bottom of the drill string and is the main component of the lower drilling tool assembly. Its main feature is a large wall thickness (usually 38-53mm, equivalent to 4-6 times the wall thickness of the drill pipe), with a large gravity and stiffness. For the convenience of drilling, elevator slots and slip slots can be machined on the outer surface of the internal thread of the drill collar.
Drill pipe is a type of steel pipe with a threaded tail, used to connect surface equipment of a drilling rig to drilling and grinding equipment or bottom hole devices located at the bottom of the drilling rig. The purpose of the drill pipe is to transport drilling mud to the drill bit and raise, lower, or rotate the bottom hole device together with the drill bit.
Manufacturing using AISI4145H chromium molybdenum alloy steel by rolling or forging, effectively controlling the chemical composition and trace element content.
Product Parameters & Functions
-
●
Apply drilling pressure to the drill bit.
-
●
Ensure necessary strength under compression conditions.
-
●
Reduce the vibration, swinging, and jumping of the drill bit to ensure smooth operation.
-
●
Control well inclination.
Drill collars are generally divided into three types:
1. Integral Drill Collar: A smooth thick-walled circular tube with connecting threads machined at both ends.
2. Spiral Drill Collar: Machined with three right-handed spiral grooves on the outer surface to reduce contact area with the wellbore wall and prevent pressure difference sticking.
3. Non-Magnetic Drill Collar: Used for monitoring during oil drilling, made of N1310 low-carbon alloy steel. Ensures hardness, toughness, and low magnetic permeability.
Executive standard: SY5144-2007, API7-1
